At United Public Adjusters & Appraisers, our work begins where people live. Every day, our team helps property owners across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut recover after fire, water, and storm damage turns their world upside down. That mission does not stop at the claim. We believe in showing up for the communities we serve, and that is why we were proud to take part in the recent MBD Community Housing Corporation Golf Outing.
It was a great day on the course alongside so many people who share a real commitment to making a difference in the Bronx. More importantly, it was a chance to support an organization that has spent the last fifty years strengthening one of New York’s most vital communities.
About MBD and What the Outing Supports
MBD Community Housing Corporation exists to improve the quality of life in its community, and it does that on several fronts at once. The organization develops and renovates affordable housing, manages and maintains those properties with care, drives economic development that creates real jobs, and delivers human services to the families and seniors who need them most.
That last piece is where so much of the impact lives. MBD’s social services team provides case management to strengthen families, coordinates care for seniors living in its developments, and connects residents to housing referrals, public assistance, and health and medical outreach. It is hands-on, neighbor-to-neighbor work that meets people where they are.
Events like the golf outing help make that work possible. Every sponsorship and every person who showed up to support the day helps MBD continue developing affordable housing, caring for its senior residents, and investing in the long-term strength of the Bronx. For a company built around protecting homes and the people inside them, it is a cause that hits close to our own.
Recognizing Derrick Lovett
We also want to recognize Derrick Lovett, who leads MBD with both heart and purpose.
Derrick has a unique ability to walk into any room and immediately make people feel comfortable. He knows how to bring people together and create genuine connections, and when it is time to focus on the mission, he is serious, purposeful, and deeply committed to doing what is best for MBD and the community it serves. What stands out most is the authenticity of his passion. He genuinely cares about the Bronx and the people who call it home, and you can see it in everything he touches.
