JOHN ROTH
Licensed Public Adjuster & Commercial Property Claims Specialist
Carrier-Side Experience. Policyholder-Focused Advocacy.
John Roth is a Licensed Public Adjuster with United Public Adjusters & Appraisers, Inc., licensed in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. He brings firsthand knowledge of how insurance companies investigate, evaluate, and resolve claims to his work representing policyholders.
With a background in commercial property and catastrophe claims at Crawford & Company and Liberty Mutual, John understands the questions carriers ask, the documentation they expect, and the issues that can delay or limit recovery. That experience enables him to anticipate challenges, identify weaknesses in a carrier’s evaluation, and build well-supported claim presentations that address potential obstacles early in the process.
Expertise & Role
John takes a hands-on approach to claim strategy and field representation, working closely with property owners, contractors, engineers, forensic specialists, estimators, and other professionals to document the full scope and financial impact of a loss. His work includes:
- Conducting property inspections and evaluating damage.
- Analyzing insurance policies, endorsements, and coverage provisions.
- Developing claim strategies informed by carrier claims handling and public adjusting experience.
- Coordinating experts and preparing detailed supporting documentation.
- Evaluating business interruption losses and their impact on operations.
- Negotiating complex claims with a focus on evidence, policy language, and the client’s recovery.
Types of Claims
John’s experience spans property and catastrophe losses, including:
- Commercial Property Claims: Managing complex losses from initial investigation through resolution, including inspections, loss assessments, expert coordination, and coverage reporting.
- Catastrophe Claims: Coordinating field investigations, independent adjusters, specialists, coverage evaluations, reserves, and settlement decisions.
- Business Interruption Claims: Evaluating the financial impact of disrupted business operations as part of commercial property losses.
Notable Experience
- Handled more than $10 million in combined commercial property losses during his time with Crawford & Company.
- Resolved more than 1,200 catastrophe-related claims as a member of Liberty Mutual’s Catastrophe Team.
- Managed large commercial property and catastrophe claims while meeting demanding carrier compliance and reporting requirements.
Client Advocacy & Approach
John understands that a major property loss is more than an insurance transaction. For homeowners and business owners, it can mean displacement, interrupted operations, financial uncertainty, and months of difficult decisions.
He combines detailed claim analysis with straightforward communication and persistent advocacy. John keeps clients informed, explains complicated insurance issues in practical terms, and works to ensure that no legitimate component of a loss is overlooked.
His goal is simple: level the playing field between the policyholder and the insurance company and put his industry experience to work for the client.
Professional Background
John earned his Bachelor of Arts in International Business from Virginia Wesleyan University, with a minor in Political Science, where he also served as Captain of the Men’s Lacrosse Team.
His background in competitive athletics and martial arts, including earning a First Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, reflects the discipline, preparation, and persistence he brings to complex insurance claims.
