On September 5th, 2024, United Public Adjusters & Appraisers, a leading public adjuster firm, participated in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s (AFSP) “Rock Painting for a Cause” event. This occasion was also hosted by the Philanthropy Network of New York (PNNEWYORK), and featured arts, crafts, and meaningful conversations regarding AFSP’s impactful efforts to prevent suicides on Long Island.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suicide is the 11th leading cause of death in the United States. As champions of suicide prevention care, the AFSP’s national programs deliver education and support, advocate for life-saving policies, and much more.
United Public Adjusters & Appraisers’ CEO, Philip Maltaghati along with Licensed Public Insurance Adjusters and Claims Assistant, Joseph Maltaghati, were in attendance that evening, a highlight of which was to decorate stones that will be showcased at an upcoming AFSP fundraiser, “Out of the Darkness”, on October 27th, 2024. This annual walk raises awareness, sparks important conversations, and spreads hope as well as solicits donations to combat suicide.
“It is important to both acknowledge and to support the truly vital work by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly to de-stigmatize and to foster suicide prevention advocacy in our region,” states Philip Maltaghati. “The work of the Long Island AFSP chapter fosters positive changes throughout Nassau and Suffolk communities. I urge you to participate in the upcoming Walk event and to donate to this very worthy cause,” Maltaghati concludes.
