FORENSIC CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT (CPA) - INSURANCE CLAIMS

Are you a detail-oriented forensic accountant with a passion for digging deeper into the numbers? United Public Adjusters & Appraisers, Inc. is seeking an experienced Forensic CPA to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to use their forensic accounting expertise in the insurance claims space.

About the Role:

As a Forensic CPA at United Public Adjusters, you will be responsible for evaluating, quantifying, and reporting financial losses related to insurance claims. Your primary focus will be on Business Interruption, Builder’s Risk, and Property Damage & Inventory Claims. Working closely with adjusters, legal teams, and building consultants, you’ll play a critical role in determining the validity of losses and ensuring our clients receive fair compensation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Interruption Claims: Analyze net income variations, evaluate revenue impacts, and assess expenses to determine how they relate to covered perils.
  • Builder’s Risk Claims: Quantify soft costs, hard costs, and delay in startup expenses, while working with delay experts and consultants.
  • Property Damage & Inventory Claims: Review and categorize invoices, summarize losses, and assess inventory valuations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Industry Data & Reconciliation: Use industry data when needed to fill gaps in financial documentation and reconcile discrepancies between parties.
  • Collaborative Approach: Work hand-in-hand with the insured, adjusters, legal counsel, and third-party experts to present clear and concise financial reports.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Identify key documents, brainstorm alternative sources when data is unavailable, and create structured solutions for supporting complex claims.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation with a minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field (example: Auditing).
  • Experience in insurance claims analysis (is preferred, but not required), especially in Business Interruption and Property Damage.
  • Proficiency in reviewing financial statements, invoices, and inventory records.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex accounting concepts to clients and adjusters.
  • Ability to analyze industry reports and external data sources when necessary.
  • Expertise (is preferred, but not required) in working with legal teams and construction experts in Builder’s Risk claims.
  • Familiarity with commercial and residential insurance claims processes is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $90-130K annually
